Remember the last time you had to count something important? No matter what it was, there’s one thing I can say for sure – you counted it at least twice.
No one quite trusts themselves the first time they count something. We recount it, no matter what it is…
So why don’t we do the same for our elections?
Despite what the media wants you to believe, this is far from the first election where someone’s asked for a recount…
If you’ve got a longer memory than the average liberal, you might even remember as far back as 2016. While Hillary bunkered herself in to have a breakdown, Green Party failure Jill Stein crowdfunded millions to pay for recounts.
Of course, those recounts didn’t go anywhere, with Trump fairly winning the election.
However, there’s a very real problem at the heart of everything – why does organizing a recount cost millions? Whether it’s Trump personally footing the bill or liberals desperate to deny reality, it’s absurd that there’s such a huge price tag attached to any recount effort.
In fact, legitimate, unbiased and automatic recounts should be completely standard. There’s no reason whatsoever to count just once. Sure, it would take longer, but it’s like the saying goes – you can do it fast, or you can do it right.
There’s actually been several cases where automatic recounts could have completely changed the course of history…
Famously, in 1960, Richard Nixon decided not to contest the election, despite clear evidence of wrongdoing from Kennedy’s team. Nixon didn’t want the bad press – he was already planning his next run.
An automatic recount would have completely removed the problem. Nixon would have been able to get a real, honest result, without needing to do anything extra – and certainly without having to spend millions.
And remember 2000? Despite the urging of his advisors, Al Gore pathetically conceded rather than demanding a recount continue.
If automatic recounts were the standard, Bush would have been able to govern in peace, without any of the media whining about the results in Florida that occupied his first term…
It’s time for a more honest approach… automatic recounts mean real results, real honesty, and real trust.
