Several courts rejected New York’s latest congressional district maps. They claim that this movement pushed by the liberals is unconstitutional.
New York dem Governor Kathy Hochul signed the congressional district map a few months ago. The demorat gives her full support because this will give her party an unfair advantage.
This will realign 22 districts into democratic areas… which results in the GOP losing 4 seats. Hence, this could have significant consequences across state lines with elections coming soon!
Judges Ruled That the Maps Are ‘Void and Not Usable’
From the very start, the congressional district map was already facing opposition.
Supreme Court Justice Patrick McAllister said that the dems are doing something unconstitutional. He said, “The court finds by clear evidence and beyond a reasonable doubt that the congressional map was unconstitutionally drawn with political bias.”
McAllister also said that their proposal is void and unusable. He added, “Although it will be very difficult, this court must require new maps to be drawn. The maps are void and unusable.”
Ohio and North Carolina judges rendered the same judgments against the district map. The movement was adopted without any input from Republicans. Conservatives were denied to have an opportunity to participate in its drafting.
NY Highest Court Strikes Down Redistricting Maps
Last month, New York’s highest court struck down the new congressional district maps. The state’s Court of Appeals ruled the movement was unconstitutionally gerrymandered. It was also reported that the dems did not follow proper procedures in passing these maps.
The court formally rejected the new congressional district map by saying that it was void. They wrote in a statement, “We declare the congressional and senate maps void. As a result, judicial oversight is required to facilitate the expeditious creation of constitutionally conforming maps for use in the 2022 election and to safeguard the constitutionally protected right of New Yorkers to a fair election.”
NY Dems’ Last-Ditch Attempt to Save Unconstitutional Redistricting Map Failed
This May, a judge in New York rejected a last-ditch attempt to use the new congressional district map. The dems were persistent even if they are already ruled as unconstitutionally gerrymandered.
U.S District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan refused to grant an emergency injunction to the dems. They sought to prevent the state’s highest court from enforcing their verdict.
Kaplan said, “Let’s be frank. This is a Hail Mary pass, the object of which is to take a long shot to have the primary conducted on state lines that the court says is unconstitutional.”
Then he added, “It’s decidedly against the public interest. And I’m simply rejecting the applications.”
Right now, the dems have no chance of creating another attempt to save their unconstitutional congressional district map. They have been rejected too many times, and they deserve it.
