Ukraine Focuses on Building Its Defense

Ukraine is worried that Russia is getting ready to start a new fight. Ukrainian officials said that Moscow is gathering a lot of soldiers along the border. 

They think that Russia wants to create a new attack on Ukraine. All this is happening right before the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia is preparing to take “revenge,” not just against Ukraine, but against the rest of the world.

Ukraine Increases its Manpower

This February, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that Russia has 500,000 troops ready to attack. That’s more than the 300,000 new soldiers Russian President Vladimir Putin called up last year. 

Russian forces have been making progress around Bakhmut in the past few weeks. This is the biggest gain in the war since summer. Russia wants to take the city and win more battles. 

They hope the hundreds of thousands of new soldiers they called up last year will help them do it. The US and Germany agreed to send tanks to Ukraine’s forces last month. 

However, it might take some time before Ukraine can get them. This might speed up the timeline for the new attack.

America Continues to Meddle in Russia-Ukraine War

The US told its citizens in Russia to leave immediately because of the war in Ukraine and the risk of getting arrested without reason. The US embassy in Moscow warned people to be careful and not travel to Russia. The embassy also said it might be unable to help Americans in Russia because it has limited resources.

The sanctions make it hard to send money to and from Russia. American debit and credit cards don’t work in Russia, either. The embassy said that Russian security services have arrested Americans on false charges and have not treated them fairly.

The Kremlin didn’t take the warning seriously, but some experts think it’s essential. It came before Russia’s Soviet Army Day and the first anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. The experts think the war between Russia and Ukraine is dangerous for both sides. They believe that the war could get worse, and that means that Americans might get caught up in the fighting.

Moreover, the United States is giving a lot of help to Ukraine in its fight against Russia. They have promised or sent almost $200 billion in military, financial, and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This is more than any other country in the world. Germany is second, with $172 billion sent. The rest of the world has given less than $75 billion altogether.

These numbers don’t include any loans or other help that might come in the future. The Ukrainian president has visited the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Estonia to thank them for their help.

The war between Ukraine and Russia started almost a year ago. Some people in the United States want to stop giving so much money to Ukraine. Many citizens think the war is going on too long and want Ukraine and Russia to talk and make peace.
