Much like our Lord and Savior Rihanna, Met Gala standbys Blake Lively and husband/arm candy Ryan Reynolds failed to make an appearance at the 2019 event, depriving the masses of a swoon-worthy gown and some very cute PDA.
Twitter was, understandably, outraged, and proved it with gifs.

Lively and Reynolds made a rare public appearance last week at the PokĂ©mon Detective Pikachu premiere, where she announced she’s expecting her third child. Reynolds stars in the movie as the voice ofâyou guessed itâDetective Pikachu.
Reynolds and Lively already have two children together: four-year-old James and two-year-old Inez. The two were married in 2012.
Lively is known for bringing show-stopping looks to the Met Gala. In 2018, she attended the event in a red-and-gold beaded Versace gown that took 600 hours to make. Paired with a halo-like headpiece, Lively was perfectly on theme for last year’s exhibit: “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”
In 2017, Lively wore gold Atelier Versace accented with a peacock-blue train for the “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” event.
Despite not adhering to the theme of 2016’s gala, “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology,” Lively still stunned in a gorgeous pink Gucci gown.
Up next Lively returns to the screen with spy thriller The Rhythm Section, based on the book by Mark Burnell and due in theaters in November. She’s also set to star in and executive produce an adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s The Husband’s Secret.
