22-year-old Gabby Petito uploaded the first travel vlog of hopefully many she wanted to share with the world. Unfortunately, it was also her last…
“Where is Gabby?” That was the question that haunted Petito’s parents. Gabby, who was last seen on a cross-country road trip with her fiance, Brian Laundrie, was announced missing after her family hadn’t heard from her in several days.
Laundrie was reported to return with the camper van, but he wasn’t with Petito anymore… and this led to suspicion.
Insider Edition asked Petito’s parents for their thoughts after they reported their daughter was missing. The mother said, “We don’t eat. We don’t sleep. We are constantly on social media talking to everyone we can… trying to get leads.”
They also asked Petito’s father if his daughter sometimes chooses not to be in touch with them. He replied, “Not even close. She’s always in communication with myself… and she calls her mother two to three times a week.”
Petito always keeps her family updated, and she always posts on her Instagram. Here’s a timeline that showed where she went before she disappeared:

- Aug. 25, 2021: Final Instagram photo, a phone call to family
- Aug. 27, 2021: Bound for Yellowstone
- Aug. 30, 2021: Petito’s mother receives a strange text message
- Sept. 1, 2021: Laundrie returns to Florida
- Sept. 11, 2021: Petito’s mother reports her missing to NY authorities
- Sept. 19, 2021: Body found at Grand Teton National Park
Yes, Petito’s Instagram and Youtube may have made us believe that she was living the perfect life. But there were already hints that Petito’s happiness and safety were not assured while traveling with Laundrie.
A 911 caller reported a “domestic dispute” between Laundrie and Petito in Moab, Utah. He said that he saw Laundrie slap Petito during a fight.
This happened a week before Petito disappeared. The audio provides a closer look at the situation surrounding the couple’s encounter with police weeks before Petito vanished.

The US federal police announced that they recovered Petito’s body in Grand Teton National Park. “On behalf of the FBI personnel, I’d like to extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to Gabby’s family. As every parent can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for the family. We ask that you all respect their privacy as they mourn the loss of their daughter.”
As of now, no cause of death has been confirmed…
Meanwhile, the police still cannot find Laundrie. Petito’s family has said they believe he is in hiding.
“All of Gabby’s family want the world to know that Brian is not missing, he is hiding. Gabby is missing,” the family’s lawyer said in a brief statement on Friday, before her body was found.
Recently, there have been reports of people claiming that they saw or spoke with Laundrie at some point in the last week. In one case. A 44-year-old tourist Hunter Mannies told the New York Post that he and his friends had spoken with a man who resembled Laundrie while drinking at Bullwinkle’s Saloon in West Yellowstone.
Mannies had contacted the FBI after their encounter, “How many people named Brian from New York who looks exactly like him are in the middle of nowhere at a bar?”
There may still be some questions that need answering that only Laundrie can answer… And Gabby Petito’s family needs closure from him…
