Iran Accused in Deadly Oil Tanker Attack

As Iran’s new government takes office, the U.S. struggles to play catch up and renegotiate the old 2015 nuclear deal that was terminated by President Trump…

In an effort to reignite this agreement before hardliner Ebrahim Raisi took office, the US and Iran discussed the terms over six rounds of conversation, only to result in no answers.

As the Iranian government goes through this change in leadership, the outgoing government has warned Raisi and his team not to make any ties with the west, “for they’ll certainly fail.”

Our relationship with Iran has been a long-standing battle.

There hasn’t been much rest in conflict, and it’s unclear if there will be.

An Israeli-owned ship was attacked off the coast of Oman at the end of July; sources are saying that Iran is at fault for it. This isn’t the first attack to occur in this longstanding war between Israel and Iran.

This was the first attack between the two fighting nations that resulted in two deaths, one person was from the U.K. and the other from Romania.

The ship was managed by The Zodiac Maritime, a company run by an Israeli businessman…

Israeli sources are saying the attack was committed by an unmanned drone. The NY Times also reported that multiple drones had crashed into the living quarters of the ship during the attack.

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid has stressed the need for an immediate, harsh response to this attack. “ Iran is not just an Israeli problem, but an exporter of terrorism, destruction, and instability that affects the whole world. We can never remain silent in the face of Iranian terrorism, which also harms freedom of navigation.”

Although U.S. and European sources are reporting their suspicion of Iran as the leading suspect for the attack, they are still looking for conclusive evidence.

This is not the only attack that’s happened in the last several months. This has been an ongoing battle – mostly between the Israeli’s and Iranians

On July 3, 2021, a previously owned Israeli commercial ship was attacked in the northern Indian Ocean, and on April 6, 2021, an Iranian commanded ship was damaged by landmines in the red sea – an attack that was later attributed to Israel.

Although it’s not the first maritime attack that either country has committed, this is the first one to result in casualties…

This air-borne attack is expected to be a direct response to Israel’s strike on an airport in the Quseir region of Syria in July, surely it’s not the last.

While the Biden Administration attempts to rebuild an old nuclear deal, the results are not looking promising as Iran holds their ground. What we need right now is not only a strong leader who can make hard and fast decisions but also a leader who understands Iranian politics and can prepare America for the aftermath of being involved with Iran’s leaders.
