It’s still maybe the biggest set of questions in American history…
Did Lee Harvey Oswald really shoot JFK? Did he act alone? And was he really a communist, or was the whole thing a cover story?
Here’s what we really know about what happened – and why the questions still haven’t been definitively answered over 50 years later.
There’s a reason over 60% of Americans believe that the official story about the JFK assassination isn’t totally true.
It’s because the story’s so bizarre, so wrapped up with missing information and still-classified files. We still don’t know everything about what happened on November the 22nd, 1963 – despite President Trump trying to get all the files opened.
You know the official story: on a visit to Dallas, President Kennedy and his company drove through Dealey Plaza, until the President was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald, who later killed a police officer before being taken in, interrogated, denying everything, and was then shot by Jack Ruby.
The thing is, the second you start looking into any part of that, the story becomes a little stranger, especially when it comes to Oswald’s life story.
Famously, Oswald always claimed to be a communist… even when volunteering for the Korean War.
The fact is, for most people, claiming that would get you a one-way ticket to rejection… why would the army want to take in communists for a war against communists? Instead of rejection, he got a special security clearance.
Immediately after the war, he tried to defect to the Soviets, who didn’t want him… they assumed he was a spy. Even after he convinced them, they kept a close watch on him, wanting to make sure nothing unusual was going on.
After a couple of years, he got bored, demanding to return to America. That’s where the story gets really weird.
If you saw a lifelong communist wanting to come back into the country all of a sudden, you’d probably do the same thing the Soviets did… keep him under watch if you let him in at all.
Instead, they let him do whatever he wanted… mess around for a couple of years, try to kill a general, run over to the Cuban embassy in Mexico, threaten the FBI, join any number of closely monitored political groups… and then kill the President.
It just doesn’t make sense as a story… if you even tried a couple of things on that list, you’d be arrested in seconds, especially in the 60s.
There’s a very good reason everyone (even in some of his pro-Cuban groups) involved thought Oswald was a spy for someone, be it the Soviets, America, or the Mafia.
Whatever the real facts were, there’s no way to ever know the whole truth – thanks to Jack Ruby, a guy with a similarly bizarre life story.
Drug-addled and mob-connected, Ruby claimed to have shot Oswald to save “Mrs. Kennedy the discomfiture of coming back to trial”…
Another obviously ridiculous claim. Has anyone ever really acted like that?
Ruby went on to make any number of claims, from confessing to being part of an overall anti-Kennedy conspiracy to claiming that he’d just been acting the whole time…
Like I said at the start, there’s a reason the facts still aren’t really known… none of them make much sense at all.
Whether JFK was killed by a lone lunatic, a dedicated communist, a mafia conspiracy or something else all together, we may never know…
The one thing we can really hope for is that President Trump’s upcoming release of the final JFK files reveals at least a little more of the truth.

As a Texan if you will look at an interview in the archives of ABC. You will find an interview with Lady Bird Johnson. she was asked by that kid of ABC who she thought killed JFK. She then leaned in and told him. ” Young man my husband kiled him”. To back this fact if you read LBJ’s Biography you will read how the only reason JFK won the presidency was he needed LBJ to win the South, JFK hated LBJ. As well LBJ hated the Kennedy family. So I strongly suggest you find that biography and find that tape of Mrs. Johnson’s interview. You will get all your answers. But Texans knew and have known this since LBJ was in congress.

One other thing you don’t just waltz in to the USSR not in the 60’s Cold War and all. There were a couple of College students from La Sierra in Riverside, Cal. who were bike riding and wandered into Soviet Territory in the 60’s and got thrown in jail. It took a Senator from California to work on getting them released.
What about James Files? He was at the grassy knoll?
If you haven’t read the story from the attorney then try to find it and do so. Both John and his brother were killed over politics and money. It was not by some person deranged. A further check of the photo showing Oswald at the consulate makes it clear it was not Oswald and the plot thickens. The read is well worth it.
LBJ ordered the Warren commission to refuse all conspiracy theories and to find a single shooter was responsible. Only one reason he’d do that. He feared the truth. He benefited the most from the assassination. He stood down secret service rooftop snipers in Dallas. He changed the motorcade route in Dealy plaza to slow it down in the curves leading to the book depository route to facilitate the shooting. No one who tried could cycle the bolt action Manlicher carcano rifle fast enough to match the timing sequence of shots fired,even without reaiming after each cycle. So that rifle could not have fired all the shots. The kill shot clearly came from the right front not from behind. The Zapruder film proves this. Kennedy told the CIA he would abolish them after re-election because they refused orders to leave Vietnam. JFK’s dad bought his election in three states using the mob and didn’t tell John or Bobby. Then as attorney General Bobby went after the mob. The mob saw this a a betrayal and the only way to stop Bobby was to kill John. JFK told J.Edgar Hoover he would be replaced upon his re-election. They confluence of these motivated totally corrupt people led to the assassination that LBJ had to hide. Oswald was not the shooter. He voice denying shooting anybody was voice stress analyzed showing he was yelling the truth. The magic bullet theory proposed by Arlen Spector is impossible. A bullet cannot change direction without deflecting off something,yet this is what Spector promoted as a lawyer for the Warren commission. Kennedy was leaving Vietnam.LBJ changed that because he had huge investments in Bell helicopter. He sought no victory because the longer the war,the more helicopters were lost,the higher the Bell helicopter stock rose,the more money LBJ made. He waisted our troops for profit.

I have always thought that LBJ approved of the killing along with the help of the Mob & Russia. Remember just before JFK was killed, That he asked Hoover to investigated Polosi father who had close association with many leaders in the Mafia Hoover had so much dirt on everyone, . When RFK picked up the gaunlet for the Presidency & wanted to dig further into his brothers murder he was murdered. So much never past the smell test
Oswald couldn’t have made the shot. Not using the rifle and scope he was caught with. Which means there was a second shooter.
I have read about everything pertaining to the JFK shooting. In addition I was a military sniper instructor. One thing I caught was the news making something out of Oswald’s sharpshooter medal. That is the lowest rating you can get and still carry a rifle. He would at least have had to shoot at expert to make the shots and would have known better than to think it could be done using that piece of junk. I doubt that the one found was ever shown to be the one he ordered and for sure it took the military a long time to eventually find someone to make the shots in the time at a moving target. That attorney was hounded by our government for making his tapes and writings.
Bruce C. Scott, I believe you’re conclusion is pretty well on spot. We all know it was a cover up especially since they said the files would not be open for at least 50 years, hoping those who were around at that time would be dead. I was 20 years old when President Kennedy was assassinated and have always thought it was a conspiracy with Johnson behind it, using Oswalt as a patsy. I do hope in my lifetime the records will be released, but it doesn’t look promising.
I believe you’re right. I’ve watched the tape several times and do not believe Oswalt was the shooter. thought it was a set up by John’son and often wondered whether or not the secret service person in back accidentally shot President Kennedy. That’s something I’m sure they’ll never let the people who were around at that time, ever know, hoping we’ll all be dead. The younger generation doesn’t have the interest like we do

I’d almost believe it was LBJ. Kennedy was going to drop him in the 1964 election. I believe he was part of the thing they call the shadow government which operates today which consists of big money and powerful people. the unelected government. He also was working on a new dollar backed by silver. It would have been a threat to the federal reserve. They had reason to snuff him too. It was said back then anybody alive at the time of the assassination would never know who did it. There is still people alive today that were alive back then.

Lee Harvey Ozwald did not shoot JFK. There was a gunman on the grassy knoll, who was either CIA or FBI,, that person shot and killed JFK. This information will never be released. Lee Harvey Ozwald was th fall guy, and then the FBI or CIA had Lee Harvey Ozwald killed. Leaving Ozwald to bear the guilt for that crime.
In 1963 I was in a senior class meeting. I went to an all boys highschool and we were all in tears when we were told that Kennedy had been killed. None of us believed the bullshit that the government was telling us. I go for LBJ first, the Mafia, the banks, Cuba, etc. There was a theory published by Jack London publishers in England that disputed the crap and further more it was not allowed into the United States. It was really bad. He brought hope and new life to the U.S.. Think about it for a moment and the same bullshit comes to light with the assassination of Robert Kennedy.
I believe Mr. Scott is correct. JFK was about to release the news to the Nation that he was bringing the Troops back home to put an end to a senseless death trap for U.S. Troops. LBJ stood to be the “Winner” in all this BS as he would take the Presidency. He and Hoover both wanted the U.S. to remain in Vietnam for the duration while LBJ was in CONTROL. I don’t believe the USSR nor Cuba had any involvement. The entire “SET UP” began and ended with “GREED AND POWER”!!!

Oswald didn’t shot JFK were the CIA

I also do not believe Oswald killed Kennedy. Too many things do not add up.
The Warren Commission was not an investigation: It was a cover up/white wash. When the commission’s report was shown on TV my friends and I were talking about the faults we saw in the report then next day at school. We were 13 at that time. If 13 year olds could see problems with the report, adults also had to have seen problems.
Here’s the problems I remember.
1. If you have just killed the president you do not go sit in an empty movie theater. You have a plan and a back-up plan to get out of town FAST.
2. To check the timing of the shots, the commission used several of the same model camera Zapruder used. But Zapruder’s camera was never checked. Wouldn’t it be logical to check the camera that actually filmed the event?
3. Three witnesses stated that at the moment the shots were fired Oswald was with them in the break room three stories below where the shots were supposedly fired.
4. Would any assassin leave his/her rifle in plain sight? That’s what the Warren Commission claimed.
5. Between the depository and where Oswald was captured are two airports. Oswald could have taken a flight to Mexico from either airport.
There’s more faults with the report, but this is all I can remember.
I believe jFK was killed because most of the generals wanted the Vietnam war and actually started it with the Tonkin Gulf incident plus the money angle and promotional opportunities for military officers. But one fact which cant be ignored is the Bay of Pigs fiasco which prompted an enormous amount of hatred for not just JFK but the Democrats to this day. JFK promoted this operation and then backed off for political reasons after it had already launched an invasion of Cuba and left thousands of Cuban invaders to be captured and later killed by Castro.
