July has been a tough month for Ukraine. Russia continues to launch attacks, causing damage and destruction. Eastern and Southern Ukraine are doing their best to fight back, but the battle is still far from ending. The international community must step up and help Ukraine in its time of need.
Putin may have admitted that he made NATO stronger, but he’s not stopping from attacking. He wants to weaken the alliance so Russia can exert its influence over Ukraine.
Due to Russia’s ongoing attacks, more casualties are happening in Ukraine. This is a travesty, and something must be done to stop it.
Russia Continues to Attack Eastern and Southern Ukraine
A few weeks ago, Russia announced they were taking an operational pause. However, this July, they’re coming back stronger. Russian forces are now raising “true hell” in Ukraine.
Deadly Russian shelling was reported in Ukraine’s east and south. Serhyi Haidai, governor of the eastern Luhansk region, said that Russia launched rocket strikes overnight.
Haidai wrote on Telegram, “We are trying to contain the Russians’ armed formations along the entire front line.”
Then she made it clear that Russia is still consistent with attacking their area. Haidai added, “[They’re] still attacking and shelling our lands… with the same intensity as before.”
Meanwhile, a rocket attack killed at least 15 people in the eastern town of Chasiv Yar. Almost a dozen more are possibly trapped under the rubble. The Russian shelling occurred overnight and hit an apartment complex.
Gov. Pavlo Kyrylenko said that the Russian forces fired the rockets from trucks. He identified them as Uragan rockets which are Soviet-era models.
Moreover, the recent attacks contradict Russian claims… which say that their “military is hitting only targets of military value.” In reality, civilians’ lives are at stake right now.
The US Punishes Russia; Putin Warns the US
After meeting Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky… a bipartisan declaration from Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal was initiated. It aims to designate Russia as a “State Sponsor of Terrorism.”
The two leaders call on their colleagues in Congress… and the Biden administration to make that designation. Graham said on Fox News, “We say Ukraine is the hope of democracy, and Putin is a terrorist.”
President Zelensky is happy with the US’ help. He said, “Today, we feel the most powerful support from the United States of America.”
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has this message for the US and Ukraine’s allies. He said, “Today, we hear that they want to defeat us on the battlefield. What can you say? Let them try.” Moreover, a top Russian official warns the US to face God’s wrath for punishing Russia.
America is doing its best to help Ukraine. Let’s hope that the administration can continue supporting our allies… without compromising the safety of our citizens.
