A new Omicron variant called XBB.1.5 is rapidly spreading across the nation. The US government has extended public health emergency status for COVID-19 through Jan. 11, 2023. The extension comes as cases of the XBB subvariant pop up in the Northeastern US. According to data from the CDC, XBB was responsible for 52.6% of cases in New England from Dec. 18 to Dec. 24. CDC Votes to Add Covid-19 Vaccine to Immunization Schedules for Children  and Adults

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to approve the CDC’s new recommended immunization schedules. Specifically for adults and children for 2023.  The vote was unanimous, with 15 in favor and none against it.
