Thanksgiving is more expensive than ever.

Thanksgiving is expected to cost a lot more than it has in the past few years.

The Farm Bureau reported that a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people is up 14% over last year, averaging at $53.31.

This cost has been calculated to include the following dinner staples: turkey, stuffing mix, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a veggie tray, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, coffee, and milk, with enough for leftovers.

The turkey itself costs 24% more than last year, at about $23.99 for a 16-pound turkey.

Veronica Nigh – a senior economist at the Farm Bureau – says that several factors, including disruptions to the supply chain, inflation, and high demand for food, especially meat have played a role in the increasing costs of food this year.

“The trend of consumers cooking and eating at home more often due to the pandemic led to increased supermarket demand and higher retail food prices in 2020 and 2021, compared to pre-pandemic prices in 2019,” Nigh said.

Sen. Boozman, the top Republican on the Senate of Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee and Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso voiced their concerns in a recent press conference over the rising costs, and how it’s going to affect the average American family.

“There’s no turkey on the table, no heat in the oven, and people can’t afford gas to drive to see family,” a GOP aide told Fox News before the conference. “With massive inflation and a supply chain crisis that won’t quit, Joe Biden won’t be getting any thanks from American families this Thanksgiving.”

Meanwhile, Boozman is saying what no one else wants to say, the increase in prices is not the fault of the farmers, truck drivers, or grocers, rather it’s the dems own fault for failing to work to address “driving food inflation to levels that have not been seen since the Carter administration.”

Because of this severe inflation, this coming Thanksgiving could very well be the most expensive Thanksgiving that Americans have witnessed in all our history.
