Ever heard of the Lincoln Project? One of the most pathetic political groups in recent history, this organization was made up of Never-Trump “Republicans” who insisted that President Trump’s sky-high party approval ratings meant nothing.
They claimed that Trump wasn’t a ‘real Republican’… that he didn’t represent the party.
In fact, they were just furious that Trump was draining the swamp, getting rid of years of their corruption.
Just look at some of the founders of the Lincoln Project, and you’ll start to understand why they turned against Trump – he wasn’t going to let them continue to take home huge paychecks:
Steve Schmidt: A grifter through and through, Schmidt was best known for crash-landing John McCain’s presidential campaign. Realizing that he wasn’t going to be hired for 2020, Schmidt sold out to the highest bidder, working on Starbucks’ founder Howard Schultz’s campaign (another embarrassing failure).
George Conway: Furious at not getting Trump’s nomination for Solicitor General, Conway turned on Trump the second he realized he wasn’t going to be number 1.
John Weaver: Another electoral consultant with no success, Weaver was involved in the McCain, Huntsman and Kasich campaigns – all total failures.
In other words, it seems to have been founded by a series of people with zero political success, all furious that they weren’t invited on board for Trump’s winning campaign.
In total, the Lincoln Project raised over $67 million from credulous dems and misled Republicans – more than enough to continue the luxurious lives they’d gotten used to.
While some of that money went to funding ads, dems almost have to be glad that the Lincoln project funnelled their finances directly to their founders…
Despite liberals adoring the ads, the multi-million dollar campaigns just insulted Republican voters (again, the people the Lincoln Project claimed to represent).
If the millions spent on advertising did anything except enrich the corrupt businessmen behind the Lincoln Project, they actively turned off Republicans.
In fact, an astonishing 93% of registered Republicans voted for Trump this year, up from the already-fantastic 90% in 2016.
Of course, the problem with never-Trump Republicans doesn’t end with one organization, but their dishonest setup really shows the truth behind their lies. It doesn’t matter what they claim to be against President Trump for – they’re really motivated by him cutting off their extravagant paychecks.
