Congress Can Stop Big Tech From Censoring Conservative News

According to Pew Research, around 86% of Americans say that they consume their news on their electronic devices. Specifically their phone, computer, and tablet.

The days you get your newspaper delivered by a guy on a bike are long gone. Nowadays, your news is delivered to you by Big Tech billionaires who control what we see. They suppress all the articles and videos they don’t like and even make money out of them.

The two dominant players in the news game are Google and Facebook. However, neither of these two Big Tech companies creates news. Instead, they use and monetize journalism published by real news publishers.

At the same time, these Big Tech companies censor every conservative news publisher they can see on their platforms. In reality, conservative media sources are often unfairly de-ranked on social media platforms.

Journalist Rips Alliance of Dems, Corporate Media, and Big Tech

Journalist Glenn Greenwald condemned the government, media, and Big Tech… for censoring conservative news.

Greenwald explained that the game has changed when it comes to Big Tech censorship. Now the government can launder its censorship through institutions… with some in journalism providing assistance.

The journalist expressed his disbelief in a Tweet. He said, “The regime of censorship being imposed on the internet – by a consortium of DC Dems, billionaire-funded ‘disinformation experts,’ the US Security State, and liberal employees of media corporations – is dangerously intensifying in ways I believe are not adequately understood.”

Then he added, “A series of ‘crises’ have been cynically and aggressively exploited to inexorably restrict the range of permitted views, and expand pretexts for online silencing and deplatforming. Trump’s election, Russiagate, 1/6, COVID, and war in Ukraine all fostered new methods of repression.”

Congress Can Stop Big Tech From Crushing Conservative News

Our current news and information economy gave Big Tech companies an unfair advantage. They control the news you see or don’t see.

However, there is still hope if Congress will support the Bipartisan legislation called the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA). This bill can help balance the scales between Big Tech and conservative publishers.

President of the Internet Accountability Project, Mike Davis, believes that Congress has the power to stop Big Tech… from crushing Conservative news.

Davis said, “The JCPA empowers publishers to meet Big Tech at the bargaining table. [They can] negotiate payment for their valuable content.”

Then he added, “The bill not only has the support of several patriotic news outlets. [There’s also support from] many conservative congressmen such as lawmakers: Reps. Ken Buck, R-Colo., Greg Steube, R-Fla.,  and Burgess Owens, R-Utah.”

Moreover, a coalition of leading conservative publications wrote a letter to Congress to address this concern. They wrote, “The JCPA would benefit all publications… that create original news content online. Its benefit to news publishers and broadcasters with an editorial voice is critical. We are all potential victims of viewpoint discrimination by the big tech companies.”

Our patriot leaders are already doing something about the Big Tech censorship. Let’s hope that Congress will hear them out.
