Florida GOP Leaders Defend Citizen’s Gun Rights

Republican leaders in Florida are fighting for the gun rights of their citizens. They believe that people should have access to reliable self-defense measures and the ability to preserve the conservative culture.

Florida GOP leaders aim to promote personal safety and security among all residents… while ensuring residents can protect both themselves and those they love.

Republicans push forward with unwavering support in a pro-Second Amendment initiative.

Florida Bill Could Hand Gun Owners Huge Win

The Florida Supreme Court rejected a challenge to the state law, preventing local governments from creating restrictions on guns and ammunition sales. The penalty provision of the law calls for fines of up to $5,000 against any local official… for “knowing and willful” violations of the statute.

In a 4-1 ruling, the court concluded that local governments have no lawful discretion or authority to enact ordinances violating state preemption.

Attorney General Ashley Moody called this ruling a “big win.” She states it protects 2nd Amendment rights.

Moreover, Florida lawmakers introduced legislation allowing people to carry a concealed firearm without obtaining a government-issued permit… potentially making the majority of US states permitless-carry territory.

The bill has been supported by:

  • The National Rifle Association (NRA)
  • Florida Sheriff’s Association
  • Various Republican lawmakers in the state’s House and Senate

It will not change who can or cannot carry firearms if passed into law. Instead, it would be easier for lawful gun owners in Florida to do so… without paying fees or asking for permission from the government.

This move from GOP leaders came after Democrat-led states have enacted gun control measures recently.

Florida GOP Leaders Push Through with Getting Rid of Gun Permits

Speaker Paul Renner believes law-abiding gun owners will take safety seriously. He trusts our patriots will use their firearms mostly for self-defense.

Renner said on The Hill, “What we’re about here today is a universal right. [It] applies to every man or woman regardless of race, gender, creed, or background. Anybody that is a gun owner and uses guns knows that safety comes first. That’s important, but it’s not required. So the permit and all aspects of that permit will go away.”

Moreover,  Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey fully supports the idea. He said, “Criminals don’t get a permit. Not one of them. They don’t care about obeying the law. Our law-abiding citizens have that immediate right, guarantee, and freedom to protect themselves.”

About half of the states already allow people to carry guns without a permit. Meanwhile, Florida handgun owners still have to conceal their weapons in public.

On the other hand, dem leaders strongly oppose our GOP leader’s proposal. Democratic Rep. Christine Hunschofsky said, “Untrained carry is what it is. With this, you are not making our communities, schools, or any places safer.”

In reality, most politicians enforcing gun control restrictions are protected by armed security.  Others have weapons themselves. So they won’t worry much for their safety, unlike normal citizens….
